6 days Andes Horse Trek | Huaraz to Chavín de Huántar

April 4–10, 2027 · €1,250 per person
Six days on horseback through the highest peaks of the Peruvian Andes. Fire-cooked meals. Tents under Andean sky. Mules carry the weight so you don’t have to.
Explore rivers you can drink from, breathtaking lagoons, snowy peaks and endless wonders in this unexplored land.
This is Bonanza’s first trip outside Portugal — and it’s personal. I’m bringing you to Peru because of a friend: a horseman from Argentina, now living in the Andes, who shares the same obsession with horses and the South American continent. He chose to live in the mountains older than memory. Now I get to bring you there too.

THE ROUTE
Fly into Lima. Overnight bus, 7 hours, into the mountains to Huaraz. Or fly Lima–Huaraz, 1 hour, $80–100.
We recommend arriving 2–3 days before the ride starts, to acclimatize. Huaraz sits at 3,050 m, and Chavín de Huántar — where the trip ends — is at roughly 3,150 m. Altitude here is not a detail, it’s the terrain. Give your body time.

THE RIDE
6 days. 4–6 hours of riding per day. Climbing from 3,200 m to 5,000 m through the Peruvian Andes — one of the highest mountain ranges on earth. Horses carry us. Mules carry everything else.
We sleep in tents, eat around the fire, and gather for music and stories after dark.
Vegetarian meals available.
